In only 2 days The Next Web Conference 2008 will be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We will post short daily updates about speakers, initiatives and events here.

Earlier we announced the 24 start-ups that would present on stage at The Next Web Conference in two days. We announced the first 22 and we thought it would be a good idea to let you decide who you want to see in the last two 5 minute presentations.

So now YOU can decide which 2 companies will present on stage on Friday. The two companies who have the most votes on Wednesday April 2nd at noon will be presenting on The Next Web.

We played around with a couple of widgets and Poll PHP Scripts but decided it would be more fun to simply count comments.

Here are the companies:

Up2date Up2date.net
Navigation by Meaning: Easy navigation from daily mail, documents & search to related information by a semantic navigation map.
VIDDIX VIDDIX.com
VIDDIX is a new video platform that allows users to add all kinds of webcontent to their video timeline. This new video platform will enrich the online video experience in ways never before seen on the web.
locle Locle.com
Locle is the hottest mobile geo-social networking app, showing your location and if friends are near, without a need for GPS or operator LBS.
Soocial Soocial.com
Hassle-free contacts for people with friends. The same addressbook on your phone, Macs, webapps like GMail and Highrise and access via API.
Wuzzon Wuzzon.com
Wuzzon stops the ringtone mafia! Celebrating their 1st anniversary & ready to conquer the world. Vote for this female dynamic duo on stage!

So go ahead, leave a comment here with the name of the company you would like to see on stage! The company wih the most comments will win!

Haven’t registered yet? Do it now before we are sold out…

My vote is for WuzzOn, i like it that they offer a fair service, especially compared to crazy frog and other ringtone companies who are only trying to set you up with 10 euro/week subscription plans. As especially a younger group tends to fall for the “ringtone maffia’s” ads I hope WuzzOn will be able to gain in recognition-share in the teen-targetmarket and fight the “ringtonemob”.

To mee it seems a company with big potentials. I want to use VIDDIX to promote my company. By showing a video and in the same time explaining with words or graphics it gives the viewer a good example of the meaning.
I also think it has great opportunities in teachingprograms.

    Good luck !

    locle.com.

Have seen it in action and it’s really something else. Brings high-tech to low end devices. The number of applications for the technology are endless - this goes way beyond social usual networking rubbish and heralds the age of geo tracking, local area ‘geo-gaming’, parent-child peace of mind, citizen protection etc.

Locle is only company listed above that is an actual realisation of a new technology.

Locle just seems like another crap as social networking thing. It’s just too much, and now you want to let everyone know where you are and when… NO THANKS. What if governments start using this against us?!!!
my vote goes to soocial, because it keeps me up to date, on the road.
I’m constantly running around and have so many different devices… I just want something that keeps them all synced up, without me having to do a thing except add a new contact. It seems a bit of a waste of effort, but it surprises me every single time how often I’m looking for contact details that I stored on a different device.

go soocial go, get out of the beta and conquer your market

    To James Ward:
James, in response to your comments. Locle is not just “another social thing”. It does two key things: (1) identifies where you and your friends are WITHOUT the need for GPS or a mobile operator with LBS. (2) Integrates into the social networks you already use, and if you don’t use any (if nobody will accept your friend requests) then it utilizes your phone’s address book as your “friend” list. The system is completely opt-in. YOU select who gets to see your location. Unless the government is a friend that you have chosen to see where you are (and somepeople would choose that) then they will not know where you are. The system has so many applications beyond the mundane “where are my pals tonight?”: parent-child monitoring, sales force automation, fleet management, asset tracking (medicines), location based games, emergency response management, aggregated traffic analysis, real-time public transport information, etc. etc. Why not take a look at our presentation before making too many judgements, eh?

    See you in Amsterdam.
